I do celebrate Samhain. No, I don’t believe in “deities” but rather archetypes à la Jung.
The veil, the dimensions of life and death, are thin. It is believed contact with those who have gone on, is easier and encouraged.
Personally, I also use Samhain as a benchmark, for the coming weeks, the time before Yule/Winter Solstice and the start of a new year. Remembering our family and friends who have left us, here; the memories, the laughs, the love. Giving them a voice, now that their voices have been stilled.
A time to look back and see if we’ve improved at all. A time to look back and determine…well…where we fucked up and how we can go about changing those habits, unattractive personality traits for something positive.
It is an important day. Bittersweet. Tossing out/killing off those things we may do that don’t serve us. Calling on the ancestors for any messages or their help as we attempt to move forward and hopefully, upward.
Thror was a minor character in the movie “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”. I won’t go into the entire thing, suffice to say, Thror was insane. Gold fever. It led to his demise and loss of his kingdom. His subjects left homeless and divided. Thrown to the wolves (wargs/worgs).
I don’t think even the most whack-a-doodle Magat can deny that Trump is fixated on gold. This latest reference reminded me of a someone I knew. Someone who descended into the depths of dementia and one of the signs was a fixation. The colour red. Everything had to be red, there had to be red accents on as many items as possible. If the red wasn’t present, she would add it, with felt marker, if necessary. It was one of the symptoms of a disease for which there is no cure. It is a downward spiral. No coming back and creates dangers for the person and anyone around them. Some of the dangers are easily mitigated, limiting access to stoves, fireplace or other potentially heat creating devices. No matches, no lighters – you get the idea.
He can’t maintain focus, his speech patterns show definitive decline. He has become increasingly paranoid. His fixation is obviously gold. Gold shoes, gold coins, utterly tacky gold embellishments in the previously dignified Oval Office (looks like a clown show now) . Obviously he won’t build a gold navy but his fixation with gold as something tied to success and importance is blatant and very evident of his dementia. The U.S. is in deep trouble.
I believe we all know he is and has been a puppet; his strings being pulled from behind the curtain.
The danger here is that he is fast outliving his usefulness and is becoming a liability. His followers are fanatics, we see that on a daily basis. The bot factories are constantly churning out division, encouraging the formation of violent reactions. I’m going to make a prediction, those puppet masters are coming to the realization that his time as their “talking head” is fast coming to an end and as the whole Charlie Kirk thing didn’t pan out as they wished, he will be their new martyr to their cause.
I’ve had to take a few days off from WP; there is just so much insanity spewing up from the former United States of America. Call it “mental health” days or enforced hibernation…whatever. Not being alarmist or hysterical. I’m not a Liberal (Canadian equivalent of a Democrat). I vote for the best interests of my constituency and my country. We’re democratic that way.

He needs to provoke extreme threats and he doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process. Even more frightening, is that this is not his doing – let’s face it, he is in some heavy stage of dementia, he’s merely a puppet and there are some dangerous people pulling his strings. Canadians? If you think we are safe behind our borders? You’re dead wrong. We have what they need, we have everything they need, they have no qualms about marching in and stealing it. None of the demands are beyond the realm of reality and to be quite honest, should have been implemented after Moron-Mulroney deregulated the industry. You want to pinpoint when the industry started down the porcelain bowl? It was then and only became progressively worse.
This isn’t about racism although a lot of people have hung their hat on that particular hook. It is the easiest for them, poor things.
The problem starts with the government, moves to the transport companies and the taking advantage of immigrants with no real understanding of the job, the regulations or the professionalism that is required to pilot a tractor trailer. It is a PROFESSION, simply because the skills are not handed out by a university, does not negate the fact that this is not only a profession but one that requires a high degree of skill, more than a high school level on the concept of general physics, meteorological understanding, patience, endurance and coordination. The list goes on. These are not uneducated men and women. Without these people, you wouldn’t eat, have clothes, shelter, medication or shelter. EVERYTHING you use, on a daily basis was delivered by a tractor trailer.
But now? Fly-By-Night companies are taking advantage of immigrants and refugees, looking for gainful employment. They are lied to, underpaid and exploited. Not just the Fly-By-Nights; major trucking companies are guilty as well.
Here is a personal anecdote, one of far too many; a driver for a company with whom I was employed, handed is license over to a relative, someone with absolutely no qualifications and allowed him to drive a vehicle, weighing approximately 50 000 lbs on a public, well travelled highway. He was caught, he was fired but this guy is by, no stretch, of the imagination, an anomaly. The personal anecdotes of unqualified and crooked goings-on, of my own, could fill a book. I am not alone. Thousands of us have our own tales. Imagine if each transport employee had, oh…say 2 stories of dangerous behaviours by unqualified, unprofessional drivers. You should be afraid. You should be angry that the various governments – all have filthy hands, have done nothing.
Professional, true professional drivers are hard to find. The industry is being drained of drivers with experience, they are leaving, in droves and are not being replaced by fully trained replacements. Positions are gap-filled by untrained workers, underpaid and told to ignore or find ways around regulations; hours of service, how to by-pass weight stations manned by the various Department of Transport officers.
Your lives are at stake; it isn’t us vs them. It isn’t an “immigrant” problem; it is an INDUSTRY EXPLOITATION OF DRIVERS problem and must be stopped before more children and families are wiped out, due to untrained drivers.
Preferable to the 10 I learned in Sunday school, back in the day.
