It’s Been A Minute

I don’t really see a point to repeating something that has been expressed, far more eloquently than I could have managed.

Take a read: It’s time to rebuild

This is a rebuild, I have deleted most of my old posts and starting, more or less, fresh. I have kept a few that were important to me, but all the rest have been trashed. Time to move forward.

I’ve retired, officially. Haven’t quite managed to wrap my head around the implications.  In fact, the other day, I rolled out of bed, grabbed a coffee and sat down in my office, (I have worked from home since 2019), to begin my day.  😳

I’ll figure it out, eventually; in the meantime, I am catching up on politics, general news and it is, quite frankly, terrifying.

We have the Oligarch Felon, elected and threatening us from the south and an actual Oligarch to the north, pulling his strings.  (I am, obviously, referring to the Orange Baboon Trump and the despot Putin.)

We don’t seem to….let’s be frank and crude here, we don’t seem to have any politicians up here, with the balls to tell the felon where to stick his mini-mushroom.  Worries me greatly.  History is repeating itself.  Think Germany and WWII.

Let’s see; I deactivate FB/Instagram and Threads.  I deleted Twitter when that Nazi bought it.  I use BlueSky exclusively now.  It does have a small learning curve and you will need to maintain your personal algorithm by muting/blocking undesirables (Magats and Maple Magats), they have invaded. I can only assume that since the mass migration from the dead bird app, they had no one to troll, save each other.

 So to summarize;

  • Supporter of Ukraine.
  • I am left of center.
  • I am an Ally.
  • No patience for Republicans or the pseudo-Republicans (Up here, they masquerade as Progressive Conservatives).
  • Feminist
  • Pro-Choice
  • My religious/spiritual beliefs are like my toilet habits; kept to myself and in my own home.

STOP HELPING THE SCAMMERS…JESUS IN A HANDCART…

STOP IT! Please pay close attention; free trips, free RVs, free anything on social media is 99.999% a scam. I am seeing a Bora Bora one currently; come on guys. Social media outlets are global, think about that for a minute – how can anyone offer that kind of a deal to anyone, living anywhere?? Just an added tip, regarding the current Bora Bora garbage? The Meridien closed in May of 2020 for 18 to 24 months.

If you go to the Bora Bora page on FB? Take a look at the “About” – no website, no contact information…nothing. Should be a big old red flag with neon lights and music…

They are “like-farming”: What Exactly is Like-Farming?

Like-farming on Facebook is a technique in which scammers create an eye-catching post designed to get many likes and shares. Posts often give people emotional reasons to click, like, and share, such as adorable animals, sick children, the promise to win big, or political messages.

Why Do Scammers “Farm” for Likes?

As with many scams, like-farming has several different aims. When scammers ask you to “register” in order to win something or claim an offer, this is a way to steal your personal information. Other versions can be more complex. Often, the post itself is initially harmless – albeit completely fictional. But when the scammer collects enough likes and shares, they will edit the post and could add something malicious, such as a link to a website that downloads malware to your machine. Other times, once scammers reach their target number of likes, they strip the page’s original content and use it to promote spammy products. They may also resell the page on the black market. These buyers can use it to spam followers or harvest the information Facebook provides.

Protect yourself from Like-Farming with these tips

Use your good judgement. If a post says you can win something just by sharing the post, it’s probably not true. If a post tugs at your heartstrings and isn’t about someone you know personally, be wary about the truthfulness of its contents.

Don’t click “like” on every post in your feed. Scammers are counting on getting as many mindless likes as possible, so be sure you only “like” posts and articles that are legitimate. Don’t help scammers spread their con.

Be cautious when it comes to sharing your personal information. Never give out personal information, such as your full name, telephone number, address, etc. to a person or company you don’t know or trust.

Update your web browser. Make sure you always have the latest version of your browser. That way, if you do accidentally click on a scammer’s post, your browser will be more likely to warn you about suspicious sites.

Conspiracy, Covid, Gates and the real virus danger.

Please stop. Please?

I get it, these are scary times. I get it, we are all worried, to some degree, about health, about our financial status etc but really?

Fear is at the bottom of most of the unattractive traits in humanity. Okay, fear and ignorance. Frankly, I get really annoyed by the latter because, in this day, in age, there is no excuse for ignorance. We have access to, virtually, every single piece of viable knowledge, throughout our history. So, I get a little bent out of shape when I see, ordinarily, intelligent people spreading YouTube garbage as actual information. These same people claim media is fake yet believe some half-baked asshat with access to a camera and microphone.

Do I believe popular media? No. Let’s face it, they aren’t charitable organizations and they need to pay their overhead like any other business. They create sensational headlines or headlines with trigger words, in order to generate interest/clicks.

I, certainly, don’t believe any of the YouTube offerings of “news”. I do confess to watching some of the conspiracy videos but simply for comedic relief.

The Gates-haters are the ones that make me laugh the hardest. If it weren’t for Gates? Few if any of these boneheads would be spewing their claptrap. Here’s a thought, if Gates is the devil that the haters claim? If he had the technology to implant microchips? Do ya not think that he would also possess the technology to block all these “truthers”? I like to think he watches them as well and giggles, at their expense.

We are a long, long way from a vaccine for Covid. Vaccines take time. They take something called “research” and that is my key word, “RESEARCH”!!

For the love of whatever invisible friend in whom you believe, RESEARCH. Stop the proliferation of ignorance and fear based on some yahoo, videotaping in some ersatz office setting. (Probably in his/her basement).

No, don’t believe popular media but for heaven’s sake, give yourself a smack if you believe what you see on the Youtubes…

If you don’t hold a higher degree in one of the health sciences, if you don’t know the difference between a bacterium and a virus? Don’t spread information unless you have, thoroughly, researched what you are posting. Of course, the best thing you could do would be to take a few science classes, a far better way to spend your time online, than watching twitches on YouTube.

The real viral danger (See what I did there ? ), is spreading faster than that Covid could have wished, in its wildest, little virus dreams…the Ignorance Virus. The difference is, of course, there is a cure for the Ignorance Virus; it is widely available and often, free of charge. The vaccine has a more common name; education.

Don’t believe popular media but using the same logic, don’t believe YouTube or Reddit or any other place where conspiracies are birthed, nurtured and then set lose to infect the unwary, the naïve.

Chico, A bien tôt

Chico left us on Tuesday night. He would have been 11 years old this month. He was with us for 10 years. 10 years of constant joy, love and goofiness.

You hear people talk about “good dogs”. Chico was one of the best. He was, truly, our fur baby. He was one of us. I know he loved us and we loved him back, fiercely.

Chico was ill. He was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy; in May of this year, we were told his life expectancy would be 6 months. We were devastated. We could not imagine life without him. Now, we have no choice.

He loved everyone; okay, except for cats. He was not fond of cats, everything else was fair game for lovings. Even skunks but that didn’t turn out so well, on a couple of occasions but he kept trying.

I don’t verbalize very well; I write out my thoughts, my feelings. And…I am finding that words are failing me. There is no way to express how much we loved him. The void…the hole that was punched through, by his leaving us, is huge. The emptiness? Indescribable.

I want to concentrate on all the positive memories but right now, they just seem to emphasize that hole.

I want to take comfort knowing that we never had to decide when he was suffering and to help him end it. I know, deep in my heart, it isn’t a decision I would ever have made.

I want to take comfort knowing that he left us, in his own sweet bed, in his sleep, with Dave and I by his side.

I want to take comfort knowing that it was quick.

I want to take comfort knowing that the vow we made, when he came into our lives, to always give him the best, to love him, and yes, to spoil him, was a vow we kept.

I want to take comfort in all these things but comfort is very hard to come by, right now. Perhaps in the coming months, coming years, that comfort will help to, somehow, soften the edged of that hole in our hearts.

I want to believe that this is simply, as is said in Quebec, “A bien tôt”. I want to believe that he is with my Mom and Dad, waiting for the day that we are all together; the three of them, waiting for us. I want to believe that. I have created a mental picture of that. I will keep that dream image, in my mind, in my heart.

KYLE SPRINGER – DOG KILLER – NEW BRUNSWICK AND ALBERTA

Because I do not believe, after  being released on a bond, with a promise to appear on Dec. 31st. I would like to make this a searchable story, that follows this psychopath for as long as possible.

His name is Kyle Springer and he, willfully, starved this dog to death. He was wanted on a warrant in New Brunswick and fled. He was found and arrested, as mentioned, they released him with a “promise to appear” on Dec. 31st.

Ridiculous courts – sure, he’ll be there. Bright and early on Dec. 31st riding his unicorn, with his trusted leprechaun at his side.

Remember the face, remember the name, although he’ll probably change it. Don’t cut this guy any breaks; give him as much caring and empathy as he gave Diesel.

Scumbag.

Update – January 9/2019:

Arrest made 2 years later

Court documents show Springer, who’s from Hartland, N.B., failed to show up for a court appearance two years ago, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

According to western New Brunswick Crime Stoppers, Springer had moved to Alberta but was arrested when he returned for the holidays following an anonymous tip.

Springer refused an interview with CBC News, but he snickered as he got into his vehicle after leaving court where a group of people came to protest the abuse to the dog.

KATY GAMMON – UK SOLICITOR AND MONSTER

Jailed, solicitor who starved dog to death in locked room: Boxer tried to claw its way out of kitchen before dying in agony

By LUKE SALKELD FOR THE DAILY MAIL

(I hope to keep this traceable for as long as there is an internet; this thing is not a human being, she is a monster. Web rumour is that she has actually given birth. I can only hope that the U.K’s version of Child Protective Services has her on their radar. This kind of wanton cruelty is an indicator of a sociopathic personality.)

    • Katy Gammon, 27, tied up her pet boxer Roxy and left home for a week
    • Solicitor returned to a stench so strong she could not face going inside
    • Boxer was eventually found 10 weeks later after complaints about flies
    • RSPCA inspectors had to scrape dead Roxy off the floor with a shovel
    • Gammon, from Bristol, has been jailed for 18 weeks today
    • Magistrate says cruelty was ‘deliberate’ and ‘most serious court has seen’
    • Shockingly, Gammon had piled tins of dog food and dog treats outside the kitchen – just feet away from where Roxy was
      locked inside.
    • RSPCA Inspector Albinson added: “This is one of the worst cases we have ever come across. “The police who attended the scene were genuinely upset by it and they investigate human murders. “She showed no remorse whatsoever in interview.”

A trainee solicitor was jailed yesterday for locking her dog in the kitchen and starving it to death.

Roxy, a five-year-old Boxer, died in agony after she was trapped without food or water for more than a week.

Her owner, Katy Gammon, 27, who had moved in with her mother at the time, continued going to work while her pet slowly perished.

WARNING – GRAPHIC CONTENT – DISTURBING TO YOUNG READERS AND TO PEOPLE WITH AN I.Q.

Roxy’s body lay undiscovered for another eight weeks, by which time it was so decomposed an RSPCA inspector had to use a snow shovel to pick it up.

Bristol Magistrates’ Court had previously heard that Gammon had confined the dog by tying a rope to the kitchen door handle and fixing it to a hook in the hall.

Roxy had frantically clawed at the door, leaving fragments on the floor, as she tried to escape before her death, which would have taken around six days.

Gammon is thought to have confined Roxy to one room because she was not house trained.

Her body was found after Gammon started staying with her mother nearby.

She returned to feed Roxy until she dislocated her knee and was unable to get to the house, then falsely claimed her ex-boyfriend was feeding her pet.

Gammon told RSPCA inspector Miranda Albinson she had left Roxy without food for a week in August, and returned to find an awful smell, adding: ‘I assumed she was dead. I never went back.’

Asked if she had deliberately locked her in the kitchen and left her to die, Gammon replied: ‘Yes, basically.’

A number of items had desperately been pulled out of cupboards. We believe this was a desperate attempt at searching for food or water.

‘Roxy suffered a slow, painful death which could have been prevented.’

Farah Rashid, defending, said Gammon ‘hated herself’ for the suffering she had caused, adding: ‘There is no excuse. This conviction has ended the career she has been working for ten years.’ (She doesn’t hate herself as much as the rest of the world will hate her, as word continues to spread. It is my fervent wish that she never has a happy day for the rest of her miserable life.)

An online petition had collected 100,000 signatures for ‘justice for Roxy the boxer dog’, and protesters campaigning for tougher sentencing for animal cruelty gathered outside the court and chanted.

Sentencing, magistrate Rod Mayall said: ‘You have shown limited remorse. You failed to behave as any normal person would have. This is the most serious case of animal cruelty encountered in these courts.’

Canada Revenue Agency – They DON’T make housecalls.

http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/reportincident-signalerincident/index-eng.htm

(Examples of fraudulent communications – text and e-mails)

The Canada Revenue Agency or the provincial revenue agencies, DO NOT show up at your house. They simply DO NOT. These are scammers. They are not government agencies; they are dirtbags in call centers, looking to relieve you of your cash. Let me repeat; the CRA DOES NOT SHOW UP AT YOUR HOME. If someone making this claim does come to your home, call the police immediately. Note their physical description, the vehicle they are driving, and if safe to do so, the license plate #.

Although it may seem obvious to most of us; they don’t as for cash/gift cards as payment.

The procedures are nationwide and do not deviate; if you really own the government money, they will contact you via regular old snail mail. You’ll be provided with a file number and a contact name/number. If you call, they will ask you specific information regarding your identity. To be completely sure that this is the government, use the phone numbers found on the actual government web site or in the telephone book.

Please talk to neighbours who may be vulnerable – elderly neighbours, recent immigrants and refugees. Encourage them to report the scams.

When you back trace the numbers and ask the providers – Rogers seems to be a popular one; they are notable unresponsive. Go to the RCMP Fraud site and register a formal complaint.

Michael Vick Wants Forgiveness. Really?

michael vickWell, I am all about forgiveness, but that forgiveness must come from the individual who has been harmed. Let’s ask his victims if they forgive him; shall we start with the puppy he threw in the pool and then electrocuted. A good number of his helpless, vulnerable victims are dead. Too bad, so sad. Live with it, dirtbag.

@JasonFoster – think about this, buddy, before you abuse your access to the public via media.

It was a sweltering day in September of 2007, and Reynolds was in Virginia to evaluate the 49 pit bulls found alive on Vicks’ property. A federal agent who had been at the scene when the property was searched was driving her to the various facilities holding the dogs, and they got to talking about what the investigation had turned up.

“The details that got to me then and stay with me today involve the swimming pool that was used to kill some of the dogs,” Reynolds wrote on her blog. “Jumper cables were clipped onto the ears of underperforming dogs, then, just like with a car, the cables were connected to the terminals of car batteries before lifting and tossing the shamed dogs into the water.”

She continued, “We don’t know how many suffered this premeditated murder, but the damage to the pool walls tells a story. It seems that while they were scrambling to escape, they scratched and clawed at the pool liner and bit at the dented aluminum sides like a hungry dog on a tin can.

“I wear some pretty thick skin during our work with dogs, but I can’t shake my minds-eye image of a little black dog splashing frantically in bloody water … screaming in pain and terror … brown eyes saucer wide and tiny black white-toed feet clawing at anything, desperate to get a hold. This death did not come quickly. The rescuer in me keeps trying to think of a way to go back in time and somehow stop this torture and pull the little dog to safety. I think I’ll be looking for ways to pull that dog out for the rest of my life.”

Vick did all that and more to his dogs, and even threw family pets into the pit with fighters and laughed while they were mauled, according to a witness who testified to federal investigators.

That’s what sends dog lovers out to football games with protest signs: knowing that Michael Vick tortured and killed innocent dogs. That he has never paid for that abuse or even apologized for it.

>Because the nation’s most notorious dogfighter pled “not guilty” to animal cruelty charges — charges that were eventually dropped in a plea bargain — and he was convicted only of bankrolling a dogfighting conspiracy, for which he served 18 months in prison before being welcomed back to the public spotlight. “

Revenue Canada Fraud/Scams and Other Bottom Feeders

Much to my chagrin, I realize that I was far too flippant, with regard to scammers and other such low lives. I treated a serious topic a little too lightly, yesterday, on Facebook.

I do forget that many people do not have my background when it comes to the internet and computers. I admit, I did have a great time laughing at the scammers but a friend brought something to my attention – she knew of someone who had fallen victim to these bastards, the end result being a fraud in the thousands.

What we need to do, as friends, neighbours, co-workers is to get the word out, particularly to older Canadians, new Canadians and friends who may not be as scam/fraud savvy as ourselves. Talk – open a conversation – discuss it – explain the types of scams and how to avoid them. Keep the dialogue going.

Here are some resources: https://www.canada.ca/…/security/protect-yourself-against-f…

While it isn’t income tax season; the scammers who called me yesterday used Revenu Canada as their masquerade:

https://globalnews.ca/…/rcmp-warn-of-canada-revenue-scam-a…/

https://globalnews.ca/…/canada-revenue-agency-email-scams-…/

http://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/…/index-eng.…

It isn’t just the individual at risk; while working, I ran up against a number of scams. There was the toner scam – where a fraudster would obtain the type of printer used in the office – a seemingly innocuous question and then obtain the name of an employee, an invoice would then be sent, using the employee’s name as the reference for the order. Luckily, our company had a strict purchasing policy and as I was the purchaser for most of the supplies/equipment used in our locations, I knew that the toner was not ordered and the fraud uncovered immediately. Some companies do have a more laissez-faire attitude toward office/warehouse supplies and this is where the fraudsters win and they win big.

The other fraud that I ran up against targeted the highly competitive sales market; there is an offer for a “directory” of sales leads. This comes in the form of a CD, an almost entirely useless compilation of businesses that is easily, and FREELY available online. This company managed to fool an employee and the CD arrived. It was sent back immediately but that didn’t stop harassing phone calls for payment, that went on for months.

There is little that law enforcement can do; these scammers are insulated and sometimes, as is the case with the Revenue Canada crooks; they are not even based in the country. A Canadian area code is not an indicator of the location of the call. For example: the call I received yesterday was from area code 705 and the full number was 705-530-9783. According to my little investigation, this is a landline phone number operated by Fibernetics Corporation and is located in the city of Alliston, Ontario. This means nothing however – the number and area code have been hijacked either unknowingly by Fibernetics or with their complicity. I don’t know. I reported it to Fibernetics; it remains to be seen if anything is done. There is big money in defrauding the unsuspecting and if Fibernetics is simply being duped? There are other telecommunication companies more than willing to take over.

So how do we fight back? By being vigilant. By checking and then double-checking and then triple checking credentials. By discussing the issue, on Facebook, on Twitter, on Instagram, in coffee shops, at the bus stop, in doctor or hospital waiting rooms; by bringing up the conversation at family events, community events – sharing with friends, with friends of friends.

Banks should be asked to post fraud information as our elderly and the newer Canadians may not be online savvy.

There needs to be more attention focused on these crimes – while I found the attempt by “Officer Greg Williams” hysterically funny; it is only because of knowledge spread online. It was through notification and an understanding of how government works, as well as how fraudsters work. I am fortunate – thousands upon thousands of Canadians are not.

Open up the discussion – get the information out there and drain the scammers pool of unsuspecting victims!!!

Be aware, be vigilant, share what you know, the scammer landscape is ever changing as they look for more ways to steal your money.
