“They Weren’t Refugees; They Were Settlers.”

I am so damn fed-up with feeling the need to face palm, fed-up with having my eyeballs roll…the level of ignorance south of my border is just amazing, in a very, very, bad way. Rhetorical question, I guess, but here we go; is there no education in the United States, I mean not just global history/geography but their own.

Those “settlers” who arrived at Plymouth Rock? They were, in fact, refugees, fleeing religious persecution, financial hardship and looking to find freedom. (Freedom and this particular arm of Puritanism is pretty much the definition of irony.)

The Irish who arrived in the great wave beginning in 1845? Fleeing hunger, economic hardship and religious persecution.

The Italians? Financial hardship, vis a vis, unemployment, overpopulation, and natural disasters.

Germans? Religious persecution, poverty, and restricted freedoms, except the Drumpf family – who were draft dodgers from way back.

The Polish, Ukrainian, Scottish, please refer to the above. They all came to North America for the same reason, freedom from oppression, to escape poverty and hardship – natural or politically inflicted.

Oh, did I mention, they were all white? Is that where the current calls to halt immigration, arrest and throw innocents into concentration camps? Deport them to, what is to most, foreign countries?

Most “Americans” faced prejudice but this current degradation of the country, these “Make America Great Again” idiots, gleefully ignore the ethnic slurs faced by their own ancestors; Mick, Limey, Wop, Polack, Bohunk..oh and then there is “bead rattler”, bible thumper…you get the gist.

The United States is, most definitely, NOT the “Land of the Free” hoped for by their founding fathers. It is the land of “Whatever ideology the oligarchs want to throw out as diversion”.

So no, the United States, Canada and Mexico are were not “settled” by Europeans. These countries were destinations for refugees, fleeing for their lives. For christ’s sake, get off Truth Social and read a goddam history book.

Advent of Satanic Panic 2.0?

Fundies are at it again.

Lordy, lordy…they’re at it again. It wasn’t enough, back in the early ’80s, to destroy lives with bullshit, they are looking to start it again. “Forward by Charlie Kirk” 🤮.

“Confronting America’s Godless Uprising”, I would laugh at the contradiction but as I do remember the devastation caused by “Xtians” with no real understanding of their own religion, let alone mine; let’s just start here, Neo-Pagans (that’s actually what we are) are polytheistic, not godless…

I did see this referenced as a “Tempest in a Teapot” and I would, heartily, disagree after witnessing the elevation of a racist, homophobic faux-Christian influencer to sainthood. There are enough of these idiots to create a danger for anyone not involved with their cult. They filled a freaking auditorium. The whole thing gave off Jim Jones/Heaven’s Gate vibes. Make no mistake, they are fanatics and as fanatics, they are dangerous.

The Satanic Panic gained an insane amount of attention, even law enforcement became involved. Innocent people were arrested, charged with the most heinous of crimes with NO EVIDENCE. Kind of like what ICE is doing, currently. If someone was to have told me, even 5 years ago, that the United States would turn into a pseudo-Nazi State, run by a dementia addled leader? I, honestly, would have encouraged them to have their medications checked. And here we are..

Discounting the threat to non-Xtians is a seriously risky road to take. These pseudo-Xtians are dangerous. They are dangerous to Neo-Pagans, to the Black, Hispanic, Asian populations, the LGBTQ2S+ folks and anyone else who doesn’t freckle in the sun and thump the bible, at every opportunity, (yet haven’t actually read the thing). These religious fascists thrive on fear. It is their primary weapon and selling point. We ignore them at our own peril.

It only took 1 book to truly start the ball rolling in 1980 – Michele Remembers; it behooves us to remember that.

Christianity and Occultism/Paganism/Witchcraft

I mean, the meme above, is not false, kind of presumptive, definitely simplistic but not completely false.

Forcing religion is never the “right” thing to do. Okay, so the fam has been R.C/Baptist/Jewish/Muslim for generations. A lot of things went on for generations that required change and change came about, sometimes painfully. Religion, by and large, has not kept up.

People, with the exception of right wingnuts, are far more educated, able to form conclusions based on evidence. Society is far more based in logic than in fairy tales and fear mongering.

I get that parents and families have been victimized by terrors from the various pulpits etc. The visions of some sort of devil persona and everlasting punishment repeatedly beat into their psyches until it became their reality, regardless of proof. And no, the bible/Torah/Q’ran are not proof. They’re books, written centuries upon centuries ago. Gilgamesh is believed to have been composed in 2100 BCE. Doesn’t make it valid, just some great storytelling. Same goes for the holy trinity of books/scrolls. Great storytelling but not proof of validity.

So what is at the root of the turning away from the recognized religions of the world? Education. The search for meaning. The search for that elusive path to truth.

The various branches of Occultism, Paganism and Witchcraft seem to offer the freedom to search. For sure, there are branches just as restrictive as the Big 3 but by and large, Occultism and the offshoots flow with change.

Atheism/Agnosticism is also on the rise. You know what is not on the rise? Historical religions. Islam is still higher up on the acknowledged beliefs than Christianity or Judaism but that too, shall change. Absolute control over individuals can’t last, it isn’t who we are as a species.

If your system doesn’t allow questioning, doesn’t allow for freedom of thought, of movement; if your system encourages the subjugation of members? This new millennium is not going to be kind to you, and with good reason.

Not so fast….

Well yeah, HOWEVER, think about this, give it some real thought. Sure, the world would be a far better place without a sexual assaulting, convicted felon and grifter, with the I.Q. of pond scum but he, believe it or not, isn’t the epicenter of the problems facing the U.S.

He is naught more than a poster boy for the racist morons, populating the U.S. voter lists. He’s a puppet, an empty headed marionette for those surrounding him. Miller, Noem, Homan, and whomever put the bug in his ear to nominate the Brain Worm to head the H.H.S. Then there’s that twat Loomer, whispering in the background. All the pseudo-Christian evangelist grifters, conning their sad membership to support the adulterer, after all, only their god can judge, right? Right? As they wander around judging everyone else.

Let’s say the Orange Baboon, bites it. Heads off to the place Christians always warn about, you know, the one without central air, Big Macs, underage girls and a golf course. Hell, Tartarus…the pit.

The problem is far from solved and will probably get a lot worse. The narcissist egos will step up and try to fill the void. As it is, they all run their departments as mini-fiefdoms, doing what they want, when they want with no fear of repercussions, legal or otherwise. They pat their wee moppet on his empty head and pass the paperwork for him to sign, “Don’t worry your little head about it Donny, just sign it.”

There is only one way to stop this and sadly, it has to wait until elections. Then, the U.S. has to finally come together and vote that band of corrupt, white supremist regime out. Unless they can convince Dementia Don to start a war, in which case, he’s there because you can’t turf a president during wartime.

Be afraid citizens of the U.S. You are down that fecal waterway without a paddle…or a life jacket and there’s a big old hole in the vessel.

Why is Pride Month Necessary?

Why that asinine question still being asked is more of the point of Pride Month than “Why is it necessary!?”

It is necessary because that dumbass question is still being asked, usually with the addition of “Why isn’t there a straight month?!” There are….the other 11 months out of the year.

Couldn’t find anything about people being murdered for the sole reason of being straight.

I see videos of “religious” 🤢 leaders claiming homosexuality is an abomination yet are perfectly okay with a woman being beaten, raped and otherwise subjugated by their husbands. Presumably these “leaders” are straight, when they aren’t being busted for pedophilia and child molestation.

I’m a late “Boomer” and homosexuality was not discussed in my home. It just wasn’t discussed, negative or positively. So I grew up never hearing the usual slurs. I am NOT saying my parents didn’t hold negative beliefs regarding homosexuality, it just wasn’t discussed, for that matter sexuality as a whole was not discussed. I had gay teachers in high school, I knew they were gay, my friends knew they were gay but it wasn’t an issue. It was a nothing-burger.

I learned more about the community, as an outsider, through a couple of nightclubs we would frequent. It was my first introduction to the trans world as well. The only emotion I can remember was intense jealousy of their mastery of make-up. I still have that jealousy….I mean…MY GOD…the talent is mind-blowing.

To this day, and I’ve had 24400+ days, not understanding what possible difference it makes to anyone. I don’t understand how we can allow our children to suffer and die because they are gay, transgender or bisexual. Personally, all I ever wanted for my own children is that they grew up and were happy in their skins.

The question was asked, a few times, how would YOU feel if one of your kids were gay/transgender…always kind of left me with my mouth open (metaphorically). How would I feel? Possibly the most inane question I have ever been asked…

🌈 I would feel afraid for them because of the ignoramuses they may meet, like the person posing the question.

So damn…YES, celebrate Pride Month. Stand against religious idiocy and prejudice. Support the community because members of that community, your family, friends, co-workers, neighbours are still being beaten, ostracized, punished and murdered for who they love.

What is happening?!?

I’m beyond shocked; my flabbers have been ghasted. (Yes, there is flippancy in that comment but it is self-preservation; I’m scared, I’m disgusted. Did I mention I was scared?)

One of the “power people’ is a pseudo-Christian Nationalist – Paula White, she of the “Prosperity Gospel” “prosperity gospel,” (the idea that God wants believers to be financially prosperous). They re-write history, why stop there, right? Re-write the bible while we’re at it. I’m not Christian anymore, haven’t been for a very, very long time but I was one, once; indoctrinated by 3 different religions as a child; Roman Catholicism, United Methodist and a smattering of Ukrainian Orthodox. Believe me, I know the bible…I also am very familiar with Christian hypocrisy but this White person? Oh man, she has leveled up to top tier in the hypocrisy department. Diaper Don doesn’t care about religion, he’s above any god’s law, in his little psychopathic brain. If the country becomes White-Xtian-Nationalist, he doesn’t give a rat’s ass, as long as the money keeps pouring in. Same with White – she wouldn’t recognize a godly act if it hit her (deservedly) in the face.

I’m watching and listening, not just to the U.S. descent into Nazism 2.0 but our own flirtation with it, via Pee-Pee Poilievre and his gang of racist misogynist blockheads.

All this to say, I need another break from all this; I’m wandering around with a constant stress headache and my stomach is in knots from the frustration and supreme disappointment in the human race.

Vote Canada – Vote!! Whether NDP, BQ or Green, this time around, do not split the vote! Vote Liberal and send a resounding message to the parties that Canadians are not going to put up with this bullshit any longer.
