Store Closing Ad, Fast Fashion, Flash Deals
Scams are a huge business on social media; I see it on all platforms but no where is this more prevalent than on Facebook. We’ve all seen them, “Sadly, We’re Closing Our Store” seems to be a huge trend. Also, using algorithms, ..social media users are targeted; ads showing bohemian clothing show up on my accounts regularly. I usually click on the “Do Not Show Ad” again option but that doesn’t even slow them down.
My rule of thumb? If the ad is on social media, unless it is a huge retailer like Amazon? I click on the “X” and move on.
Shein and Temu are absolute “No” for me; I prefer quality over quantity. I like my clothing to last, I like seams…I like clothes made of material that doesn’t feel/look like it would melt when exposed to heat. I have ordered from Shein and I was not happy with the materials used, with the fit or the quality. Believe me, you get what you pay for.
The other thing that is of major concern, is that all these places require your credit card. Sure, they tell you that the information is not stored unless you request it but I’ve been around the online world since before it became a norm, don’t believe it.
Don’t be seduced by the ads, if it looks too good to be true, IT IS. Shoddy workmanship, inferior materials and privacy risks are not worth it.
